Olota Sets To Host Isese Day, Praises Dapo Abiodun On Assent

Olota of Ota, Olofin Apesin Olode, Oba Prof. Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege has said all preparations have been concluded to host a memorable Isese Day as assent by Governor Dapo Abiodun on Sunday, 20th August.

Appreciating the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR for signing into law, a bill  to observe every 20th August as holiday in Ogun state, in a press conference in his palace admonishes other state Governors and the president to make it a National celebration which is the yardstick of maintaining peace in the nation.

Speaking at the conference on the theme  ‘Embracing Traditional Religion For Peaceful, Co-existence In The Global Village", the Chairman, Isese Parapo Organization and Araba of Ota, Oluwo Dr. Fasola Faniyi, said the event will showcase the richness of African culture and tradition.

Araba of Ota, Fasola added embracing the tradition through Isese will in no doubt restore peaceful co- existence devoid of the  current crisis across globe.

“We are set to organize a befitting Isese day this year as all plans are in top gears. We have sent out letters; inviting dignitaries corporate organizations as well as government functionaries and we have received very good feedback from them. This year’s event will showcase the rich African culture and tradition that the people of Ota, Awori land and the Yorubas as a whole possess”,Fasola said.

Faniyi said Isese births other religions which our fore fathers' beliefs entrenched in 'Ifa Olokun asoro dayo' describing Olodumare as epitome of traditionalists.

“We have long yearned for every 20th of August to be set aside for our annual Isese festival, we have written series of letters and press releases to the powers that be, but all were to no avail. We the traditionalists in Ogun state ought to have gotten a day set aside for us since time immemorial but we are appreciating Prince Dapo Abiodun for taking the bold step of doing what his predecessors could not do for us despite all pleas”,  Dr Faniyi said.

Faniyi added that before the advent of modern religions Isese was predominantly our way of life with Olodumare answering prayers adding that History will not forget the roles  played by all members of the House at ensuring that traditional Practitioners get their own recognition in the state",  Fashola added.

The  coordinator of Traditional Practitioners in Ota,Chief Fatai Aina Alebiosu and  Yeye Iwase, Chief Mrs Iyabo Ahmed aligned that  traditional practice is a  religion that had never dissadpointed our fore fathers' which guaranteed peace saying if embraced is capable of ensuring peace in our communities.

Chief Fatai enjoins all Ota indigenes both at home and in diaspora to come out enmass in the celebration of Isese Day and ensue the tenets of unity to further improve our environment.
