Court Sentences Nigerian Man To Death In Adamawa For Killing Female Lover, Selling Body Parts

An Adamawa State High Court has sentenced to death by hanging, one Abubakar Mohammed, 38, convicted of murdering his girlfriend and subsequently harvesting parts of her remains, our correspondent has learnt.

Mohammed, a water vendor, reportedly lured one Christiana Augustine with love overtures, only to kill and harvest her eyeballs, tongue and breasts for a N10 million price.

The incident happened around 7:30pm on January 26, 2019 at Shagari Federal Low Cost Housing Estate Phase II, in the Yola South Local Government Area of the state.

As gathered, the supposed lovebirds went to a familiar meeting place on the ill-fated night to relax in a conjugal way, when suddenly Mohammed pulled out a knife and slit Augustine's throat in the process.

He was said to have relocated from Jauro-Tukur village, in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe state, upon an invitation from one Buhari Mohammed of Sanda junction, Yola South in Adamawa state, who offered him the prospect of making a whopping N10 million from the heinous crime.

While in Adamawa State, he acted as a water vendor around the Shagari Low Cost, a densely populated area experiencing acute short supply of potable water. He accordingly endeared himself to the late Augustine for his free and prompt supply of the essential commodity.

Justice Bulila Ladokiya Ikaro, handed down the sentence on Tuesday after convicting him on a two-count charge of culpable homicide and possession of human parts.

She sentenced him to 21 years imprisonment with N100, 000 option of a fine on possession of human parts, as well as to death by hanging on culpable homicide. She delivered that the sentences are to run concurrently.
