Fake policeman arrested in Ebonyi

Police in Ebonyi have announced the arrest of one Friday Enyi, from Idembia in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly parading himself as a police corporal.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ebonyi command, Chris Anyanwu, in a statement on Sunday said the suspect was arrested following a tip off from the commander of Ebubeagu security outfit in the area,Anyigor Lazarus.

He said the suspect had been handed over to the investigation and intelligence department of the command for proeper investigation and possible prosecution.

“The Ebonyi State Police Command on Saturday 3/7/2022 at about 1046hrs through a coordinated effort with Anyigor Lazarus, the Commander of Ebubeagu Security outfit in Ezza South LGA apprehended Enyi Friday who hails from Umunwagu Idembia in Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State for Impersonation. The young man who is not a police officer was caught wearing the uniform of a Police Corporal hence his arrest.

“The suspect has been handed over to the State Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

“The general public is hereby requested to continue to partner with the Police in Ebonyi State in a bid to rid our communities of criminal elements”
