Residents desert roads, markets, schools in Enugu

Most residents of Enugu State on Tuesday deserted their businesses, markets and offices for the second consecutive day following a sit-at-home order provoked by a social media voice note.

The voice note, which was evidently of a teenager, warned Igbos in the Southeast to stay at home on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or be killed.

The reason, according to the threats, was in solidarity with the incarcerated Indigenous Peoples of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Owing to fear created by the voice note, which was widely shared, no shopping complex or market, filling station, school, restaurant and bank opened, especially in the capital city
