The Chairman, Ado -Odo/Ota Local Government Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa has presented a proposed budget of N4,999,746,257.50 tagged "budget of reality to the Legislative Arm of the Council for 2022 fiscal year, being his first attempt at budget making and presentation.


While presenting the budget, Engr.Musa stated that the approved budget for year 2021 by the immediate past administration was N4,740,891,018.40, which did not meet up with expected target due to obvious reasons such as dwindling revenue from the federal account as a result of the global economic melt down and effect of the Covid-19 pandemic that ravaged the whole world.


He said the year 2022 budget proposal was meant to further impact positively on the lives of the people through the implementation of well thought out policies, projects and programs, spelling out that the total  revenue of N4,999,746,257.50 represents 5.4 percent increase above year 2021 which is made up of the sum of N4,820,596,257.50, as expected statutory allocation from both the federation and state accounts representing 96.42 percent of the total budget size. 


According to the LG boss, N25,000,000 or 0.50 percent of the total budget size is envisaged as aids and grants from the State Government, hoping that the Council will generate the sum of N154,150,000 from internal sources which represents 11.10 percent increase above the amount budgeted for in year 2021, saying measures aimed at improving the revenue generation performance this year are being adopted for people to see the results in due course.


Musa disclosed further that the Economic sector is allocated the sum of N248,375,000 in the year 2022 budget which represents 43.30 percent of the proposed total capital expenditure, are meant for road rehabilitation and maintenance throughout the year, adding that the Social sector is allocated the sum of N200,590,000 that is, 34.7 percent of the total capital expenditure which covers education, health and community activities appealling to the Legislative Arm led by the Leader Hon. (Mrs) Bukola Balogun Omosowon for a speedy passage of the proposed budget.


Hon Musa appreciated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele for the support during their nominations and eventual success at the polls, as he also gave kudos to the department of Budget Planning Research and Statistics of the Council headed by Mr Emmanuel Pogbe for a job well done.


The Leader of the House of Legislatives Hon. Mrs  Bukola Balogun Omosowon assured the  Council Boss that the Honourable House will swing into action without delay towards the passage year 2022 proposed budget, adding that the Legislative Arm is ever ready to work together as a team in actualizing the agenda of Ogun State Government by building the future.


Present with the Chairman at the presentation of the budget were the Vice Chairman, Mrs Saidat Olatunbosun Animashaun, Executive members, Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Adebola Bamgbose, Directors and Heads of Departments, amongst others.
